Man's Best Friends Dog Grooming Parlour

Please read the following Terms & Conditions before booking an appointment.

At Man's Best Friends Dog Grooming Parlour, your dog's welfare, comfort and safety will always be my number one priority.

I provide a gentle, one-to-one grooming service, treating every dog as an individual and working at their own pace.

1.Cancellation Policy

I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your dog's grooming appointment.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged the full grooming fee.

This is because your appointment has been reserved specifically for your dog, and short-notice cancellations are extremely difficult to fill.

2.Missed Appointments & Late Arrivals

If you fail to attend your appointment without notice, 100% of the grooming fee will be charged.

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be classed as missed and the full grooming fee will still be payable.

Please arrive on time, as I work to an appointment schedule and need to allow sufficient time for every dog.

3.Payment

Full payment is required on the day of your dog's grooming appointment.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

4.Dog Welfare & Grooming Procedures

Your dog's welfare will always come before appearance.

I believe in gentle, patient grooming without unnecessary force or restraint.

Every dog has different needs, confidence levels and tolerances, and I will always work with the individual dog in front of me.

If your dog becomes overly stressed, frightened, uncomfortable or unsafe during grooming, I reserve the right to stop the groom.

This may mean your dog goes home without the groom being fully completed.

This is particularly important for elderly dogs, anxious dogs, puppies and dogs with health or behavioural difficulties.

I will never force a dog through a grooming procedure simply to achieve a particular appearance.

5.Matted Coats

I do not carry out prolonged or painful dematting.

If your dog's coat is severely matted, it may need to be clipped short for their comfort and welfare.

I will always put your dog's wellbeing before maintaining coat length or achieving a particular style.

Please understand that removing severe matting can sometimes reveal underlying skin irritation, redness or other conditions previously hidden beneath the coat.

6.Health & Medical Conditions

Owners must inform me of any health conditions, injuries, allergies, medication, recent operations or behavioural concerns before their dog's appointment.

This includes any changes in your dog's health since their previous visit.

Elderly dogs and dogs with medical conditions will be groomed according to their individual needs and capabilities.

If I feel your dog is not well enough to continue, I will stop the groom and contact you.

7.Illness & Contagious Conditions

Please do not bring your dog for grooming if they are unwell or suffering from a contagious illness.

This includes sickness, diarrhoea or any condition that could potentially affect other dogs.

I reserve the right to refuse or rearrange an appointment if I believe a dog is unwell or could pose a risk to others.

8.Fleas

Please inform me before your appointment if your dog has fleas.

If fleas are discovered during grooming, I will advise you so that appropriate treatment can be carried out at home.

If your dog returns for their next appointment and the flea problem has not been resolved, I reserve the right to refuse the groom until the issue has been treated.

9.Toilet Breaks Before Grooming

Please ensure your dog has had the opportunity to go to the toilet before arriving for their appointment.

A short walk beforehand can also help your dog feel more comfortable and relaxed during their groom.

10.Collection & Drop-Off

Please arrive at your agreed appointment time and collect your dog promptly when contacted.

As I provide a one-to-one grooming service, appointments are carefully scheduled to allow each dog individual attention.

If you arrive early to collect your dog, please remain in your vehicle until I have finished and contacted you.

Dogs can become excited or unsettled if they see their owners before the groom is complete, which can make finishing safely more difficult.

I have cameras and can see when you have arrived.

11.Photography & Social Media

I may take photographs of your dog during or after their grooming appointment to share on my business Facebook page or other business-related social media.

I absolutely love capturing photographs of the lovely dogs that visit me, and I know many owners enjoy seeing and keeping these photographs too.

However, photographs are never guaranteed.

Some dogs are naturally confident and happy to sit or stand for a photograph, while others may feel nervous, unsettled or simply want to get off the grooming table.

If your dog is uncomfortable, unwilling to stay safely in position, attempting to jump off the table or showing signs of stress, I will not continue trying to take photographs.

I will never force a dog to pose or remain on a table simply to get a photograph.

Your dog's safety, confidence and wellbeing will always be more important than getting that perfect picture.

Please understand that although I love taking photographs, not every dog will be comfortable having them taken, and I will always respect that.

If you do not wish your dog's photographs to be shared publicly, please let me know.

12.Veterinary Emergencies

In the unlikely event that your dog becomes unwell or injured during their appointment, I will contact you immediately.

If I believe your dog requires urgent veterinary attention, I reserve the right to seek treatment at the nearest available veterinary practice.

Your dog's health and safety will always be my priority.

Any veterinary costs incurred will be the responsibility of the owner, except where the injury or illness has resulted from negligence on my part.

13.Grooming Prices

All grooming prices advertised are starting prices.

The final price may vary depending on your dog's coat condition, coat thickness, temperament, behaviour and the time required to complete the groom safely.

Dogs requiring additional time, patience or specialist handling may incur an additional charge.

Where possible, any additional charges will be discussed with you.

14.Right to Refuse or Stop Grooming

I reserve the right to refuse, postpone or stop a grooming appointment if I believe continuing would compromise the safety or welfare of your dog or myself.

This includes situations involving extreme stress, aggression, illness or any circumstances where grooming cannot be carried out safely.

My priority will always be to provide a positive, calm and safe experience for every dog in my care.

Client Agreement

By booking an appointment with Man's Best Friends Dog Grooming Parlour, I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined above.

I understand the cancellation policy, missed appointment charges and that my dog's welfare and safety will always take priority over completing a groom or achieving a particular style.

I also understand that photographs are taken only when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
